U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop (R) has declared his candidacy for North Carolina Attorney General.
Bishop announced his candidacy on WBT Radio’s “Good Morning BT with Bo Thompson and Beth Troutman.” The decision to abandon his U.S. House seat and enter a state-wide race in North Carolina was an interesting one. Bishop is one of the most popular GOP politicians in North Carolina. He was the only NCGOP Convention speaker to receive more standing ovations than Mark Robinson. As the position of Attorney General is mostly viewed as a steppingstone for higher office, Bishop may have some long-range political goals for even higher office.
The Tarheel-flavor of MAGA
Bishop has a reputation for being a plain-spoken firebrand in Congress. He and other congressional members recently formed the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to publicly expose federal government censorship against conservatives on social media platforms.
Additionally, Bishop and Wyoming Rep. Hageman are cosponsoring a new bill aimed to ensure accountability for federal officials who infringe upon the First Amendment rights of Americans. This legislation underscores Bishop’s dedication in protecting civil liberties and enforces Bishop as a defender of the Constitution and an advocate for the freedom of speech.
I spoke with @Charliekirk11 today about the DOJ’s indictment of President Trump and what Congress ought to do about it.
Not one more penny for a rotten DOJ bent on criminalizing free speech pic.twitter.com/5FZUaz6Cpv
